Woman Combing Her Hair - By Edgar Degas

A hand-painted reproduction Oil on Canvas of the original work Edgar Degas. Hand painted museum-quality reproduction oil painting on canvas.

About the Artist:
Edgar Degas was born in 1834 into a family of bankers of aristocratic extraction. His mother died in 1847, so the boys father and grandfather were the most influential figures in his life. Despite his desire to paint he began to study law, but broke off his studies in 1853. He then spent time at studios copying Renaissance works. He spent years traveling through Italy and America frequently painting subjects such as jockeys, race horses, and dancers.

The rapid worsening of his eye condition caused him to avoid all society. He drew pastels, modeled statues in wax, and extended his art collection. In 1909-1911, due to failing eye sight he stopped his work completely. After Degas' death in 1917 about 150 small sculptural works were found in his studio, and unsurprisingly his subjects tended to be race horses and dancers.
