Please read carefully prior to placing your estimate request. The terms and conditions relative to
estimates will apply as indicated herein.. Should you have any questions,

First of all, we sincerely appreciate your wish to have an
estimate from us on your project. After seeing what we can do, most people can think of many
things they'd love to have! They also mistakenly think we'd be too costly. Not
true. Unlike our competitors, we have no outside sales staff, no franchise
fee overhead, no showroom to maintain (this is it!), we've never advertised by
newspaper, radio, television (all of which are extremely expensive, and the
clients will end up paying for) and generally run a pretty tight
ship. More than half of our business is from direct referral. However, there are some ground rules that Closet King
must set in order to service our client base and demands.
Because we "hands-on
custom build" each and every piece of every project, we can only go so fast.
Due to this custom nature of our business, it is not practical for, nor do
fiscally need to conduct business too far from our Bakersfield location.
Closet King currently has a 60-90 day bid
acceptance-to-construction period. If you want us to do your
project, give us plenty of lead time, including new construction. Our
competitors, by the way, can get to you with their prefab components in a few
days, if speed is what you're after! We've had to establish some reasonable
guidelines concerning estimates, which, on a time-allocation basis, are quite costly to us.
Therefore, the following guidelines will apply:
- 933-- ZIP CODES.
Only estimates located within an approximate 15 mile radius from our shop, located
at 3624 Buck Owens Blvd., Bakersfield, will be completely free of charge, and we'll
attempt to get to them as soon as possible. These are all the zip
codes attributed to the greater Bakersfield area. You're by no
means ever obligated to accept our bid on a project, but we do ask that you
be serious about your desire to accomplish the project prior to placing your
estimate order.
- Not 933-- BUT WITHIN 40 MILES.
Estimates
conducted outside the local zip codes, but within a 40 mile radius of our shop (towns such as
Arvin, Taft, Shafter, Wasco, Tehachapi, etc.) may be completed in two
ways, at your option: 1) physically
at a non-refundable cost of $25 or 2) by email, fax, and phone at no charge.
Bids given to those clients living in this described area will be the same
as those given in Bakersfield, and no travel penalty will apply at the time
of installation. To assist in how this can be done electronically (and

- OVER 40 MILES:
As much as we'd love to
be in all places and all times, we cannot, and our time, like yours, is
valuable to us. Therefore, estimates conducted over 40 miles from
our shop may be completed in the same two ways: 1) by email, fax, and phone -
but with a non-refundable fee of $50 or 2) a physical on-site estimate at a
cost of $1.25 per mile from our shop, charged one-way only and only
available on weekends. For example, a trip to Morro
Bay (as much as we've enjoyed installing closets for clients there) takes just over 2 hours
each way to travel from Bakersfield. That's a total of 4 hours driving time (plus gas,
etc.) just to look at your project! Basically, a full day must be
devoted just to see your project. If you really want us there at a cost
of roughly $150, we'll come. These fees are intended to discourage you if you're not
serious about us or your project, and we trust they'll have that effect. So, let's
do this electronically! Before you proceed, please note that in addition to the $50 or mileage
bid fee for over 40 miles, your bid will additionally be assessed a
trip charge over and above our normal in-area bid. Of course, you
wouldn't know that unless we told you. . .but we're telling you! Please
understand that we're not trying to push you away from Closet King.
Indeed, even with these extra charges our bids are many times still
lower than the bids received from "prefabbers" as we call
them. Trip charges will depend on the distance to the project,
how many nights away (lodging costs, etc.) for completion of the project,
the number of probable trips back to Bakersfield to complete the project,
etc. To give you some idea, the last project in Los Osos was assessed
$250 plus the $150 estimate charge. Our total bid, including the
travel fees outlined above,
was $1,550. . .for a walkin closet and was still less money than the
local prefab competitor's bid!
Upon arrival of your request, you will be be emailed an
acknowledgement and attachments which will detail what you need to do to receive
your estimate. Your email estimate will come complete with a rendering of
plans bases on how you answer the questionnaire we will email you.
Your plans and estimate will only be worked on upon receipt of the the completed
questionnaire and payment of the estimate/bid fee as outlined above. Planning your
closet takes a lot of our time, and thus the fees. However, the plans are
yours to keep regardless of whether you use Closet King or some other builder to
complete them.
